I haven't used this for a long while and was pleasantly surprised to see it again recently.

Pros
  • lightweight recording server
  • great interface and excellent EPG
  • easy timer/schedule settings
  • recordings are not encrypted
  • power saving options
  • (not tried it recently, but I recall it was able to record a mux rather than just the program stream)
  • uses Windows
Cons
  • requires another program/client to watch recording
  • may need to process the recordings before HD(R) Fox T2 will play them
  • uses Windows
  • uses xmltv for the EPG (maybe that's why I stopped using it, it use to retrieve the Freeview EPG)
So you can use a small low power Windows device (eg old NUC/etc) to do recordings, and other device(s)/clients (eg Firestick/HD(R) Fox T2/Smart TV/etc) for watching.
If the PC is not too old, then it may double up as the viewing device as well.
